GMA Regional TV and Synergy once again brought its project dubbed as “GMA Masterclass: The Icon Series” at Western Mindanao State University on June 23, 2023. The program was held at the WMSU CTE Social Hall.WMSU President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena warmly welcomed the GMA Team and participants to the said event. In her message, she said, “The quest for truth is challenging and we must always strive to be cultivators of truth while upholding honesty, integrity and ethical standards.”
GMA Senior Vice-President and Head of Integrated News, Regional TV, and Synergy, Oliver Victor B. Amoroso gave an overview of the Masterclass Series. “We want to bring GMA to the provinces to fulfill our mission of promoting learning and inspiring students. “
The initiative brought an opportunity for students studying Broadcasting, Journalism, AB English, Political Science, and Asian and Islamic Studies to engage with a seasoned professional who provided invaluable guidance on various aspects.
Lizelle G. Maralag, Chief Marketing Officer of GMA Network Inc., graced the event and generously shared her extensive knowledge and expertise with the enthusiastic participants. “Competition is tough. Make sure you are the best bar none, that will separate you from the rest.”
When asked about facing challenges at the work place, she replied, “Work is work. Would you rather have work or no work at all? Challenges, hindi nauubusan yan and it’s ok. The decision to be miserable is yours and yours alone.”
She also reminded the students the importance of having positive values. “The people you meet going up are the same people you will meet going down. Always be respectful and kind to people.”
In a gesture of gratitude, Mr. Amoroso together with GMA Western Mindanao Station Manager Jennevieve Ocaña presented Dr. Ochotorena with a plaque of appreciation.
The GMA Masterclass: The Icon Series was hosted by GMA Regional TV Anchor and Senior Desk Editor Sarah Hilomen-Velasco and GMA Sportscaster Martin Javier. While GMA Sparkle Talent Thea Astley entertained the crowd with her powerful vocals.
The previous staging of the GMA Masterclass at WMSU was held on March 24, 2022.
