First-Ever Fiesta na Casa Economica unveils Interdisciplinary Talents of Home Economics Students

In a historic moment at the CTE Social Hall on April 28, 2023, the Home Economics Department proudly presented the inaugural “Fiesta na Casa Economica.” This remarkable event, organized by the department, united seven distinct skills-based subjects, demonstrating the interdisciplinary brilliance of its students.The seven subjects, including Beauty Care and Wellness Development, Home Apparel and Accessories, Massage Therapy, Food Service Management, Fashion Accessories and Novelty Items, HE Entrepreneurship Management, and Event Management, collaborated to create a truly unforgettable experience. Each subject contributed its unique expertise, resulting in a showcase of creativity, innovation, and hands-on skills.

Attendees were treated to manicures, pedicures, live fashion shows, spa massages, table skirting, fruit carving, and artistic table centerpieces, all presented by the talented students. What set this event apart was the seamless integration of knowledge and skills across different subjects, exemplifying the power of interdisciplinary collaboration.

This event not only celebrated the students’ abilities but also highlighted the department’s commitment to holistic education, erasing traditional subject boundaries and fostering unity, purpose, and pride among students and faculty alike.

Led by Dr. Lucia M. Santos, College of Home Economics Dean, Mr. Patrick Brown, Associate Dean, Asst. Prof. Marrielle S. Veloso, Chairperson of the Home Economics Program, and a dedicated team of professors, the success of “Fiesta na Casa Economica” marks a historic milestone and solidifies the Home Economics Department’s position as a beacon of interdisciplinary education within the university. This event has set the stage for future collaborations and further integration of knowledge and skills, emphasizing excellence in education.
